Police Constable Christian Yorke, 20, appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with the rape of a clerical officer attached to Scarborough Police Station, where he was stationed.
Yorke was not called upon to plead as the charge was laid indictably. Yorke, of Sherwood Park, Tobago, appeared before Magistrate Alexander Prince in the Scarborough Second Magistrates’ Court to answer the charge. The court heard the alleged incident occurred on Monday at around 10.55 p.m, when, at Renaissance in Roxborough, the victim made prior arrangements with Yorke to convey her home. However, on arrival at her home, Yorke then requested to enter her apartment to take a rest. She obliged but it is alleged he then lifted her bodily and placed her on her bed and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
Yorke, who was attached to the Tobago Task Force, was released on $100,000 bail. The case has been adjourned to March 31.
