An 82-year-old from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, who was in India on a tourist visa, died during treatment in a private hospital in Dehradun on Thursday, the Times of India reported.

Boodoo Bhim was in Uttarakhand on a visit to Madhuban Ashram at Muni-ki-Reti in Rishikesh. From the ashram, he went to Badrinath but fell sick immediately after his return to Rishikesh. The man was vomiting and complained of dehydration. He was then admitted to the Jolly Grant-based Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) where he died during treatment.

Dr Y S Bisht, medical superintendent of HIMS, told TOI, “The patient’s blood pressure started dropping on Wednesday so we shifted him to the ICU. Due to his advanced age, he did not respond well to the treatment despite our best efforts.”

The body will be handed over to the son of the deceased.
