A Trinidadian visitor has been sentenced to two years in jail in Barbados after he appeared in the District “B’ Magistrates’ Court on a number of drug charges.
Dexter Taylor, 54, was arrested on arrival at the Grantley Adams International Airport from Piarco last Friday after a search revealed three packages of cocaine hidden in false compartments of a haversack he was carrying.
He was later charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of cocaine.
Taylor subsequently appeared before Magistrate Smith-Bovell in the District “B’ Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to all four drug offenses.
However, while he was sentenced to two years in prison for trafficking, he was convicted, reprimanded and discharged for the remaining offenses.
