The killings resume…

Spread the word

After a relatively quiet weekend for homicide police officers, there has been a murder in the rural community of Stone Road, Piparo.

Lucky Mohammed, of Chickland Road, Caparo, was found lying in a pool of blood, the victim of gunshot wounds to the back of his head.

But it’s not that the weekend was totally homicide-free.

Mookram Kanhai, 65, was chopped to death in his bedroom at Ecclesville, off Rio Claro.

A family member is alleged to be the murderer.

Compared to the recent spate of killings, however, the weekend was relatively safer.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said in a public address over the weekend that “walking among us today are unidentified murders”, who “might be right in front of you buying a roti and you don’t know who they are.”

The murder detection rate is said to be eight per cent.
