There is a heritage structure older than the Magnificent 7 buildings.
But so far Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has shown no inclination to saving the building, which was constructed in 1898.
The now-abandoned Sangre Grande Post Office in the heart of the eastern town holds memories dating back to colonial days.
Apart from providing postal services, the building was a pay station and a community meeting point.
Business and community personnel in and around Sangre Grande are appealing to Rowley to save the structure.
The Prime Minister heads a Restoration Committee that is looking at the Red House and the Magnificent 7 structures in the capital city.
He recently also used taxpayers’ money to buy Cabazon paintings in a bid to protect legacy artefacts.
