The new boss of the money-bleeding Caribbean New Media Group (CNMG) is being paid almost as much as the Prime Minister.
And that is even though the government has been repeatedly complaining about the disastrous financial position of the State-owned media house.
In addition, Helen Drayton, who recently quit in a hurry as Chair of CNMG, reportedly gave Carnival interest groups some $2 million for broadcast coverage of this year’s festival.
Julian Rogers, who is on a six-month contract as CEO of CNMG, is being paid a monthly sum of $51,000. This is made up of a flat monthly salary of $42,000. He is also receiving a monthly telephone allowance of $2,500 and a travel allowance of $6,500.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley earns a flat salary of $48,000. In addition, he is paid a monthly duty allowance of $7,500 and a monthly transport allowance of $5,500.
Details of Rogers’ salary were given by the government in a written response to a question from Opposition Member of Parliament Fazal Karim.
CNMG has also recently hired Relna Vire as Acting Manager of Finance and Accounting, at a monthly salary of $23,000, plus $500 telephone allowance.
