The Police were kept busy this weekend investigating four more murders. But the most intriguing one was where a man walked into a police station and confessed to killing his wife.
According to reports, a man went to the Freeport Police Station on Saturday afternoon and told officers he had strangled Latchmi Persad, 42, of Ramsamooj Avenue, Chickland, on Friday.
The man then led police to his marital home where his wife was found frothing from the mouth.
He told the police that he and his wife were drinking alcohol and ingesting cocaine late Friday night when they had a heated argument and he began strangling her. He said following the act he left the house and did not return until Saturday when he decided to confess his alleged crime to police.
Police broke down the door and found Persad’s body in the bedroom. Persad worked at a nearby mini mart.
Despite the confession, police will await the results of an autopsy on Monday. The suspect remains in police custody.
