Ford, who served as Information Attache at the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission in London, during the tenure of then Prime Minister Patrick Manning, shocked all in the PNM when he called it quits. No reason was advanced why Ford decided to step down.
But insiders in the PNM said Ford was hoping to get the approval of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley to be the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
When he was told that he was not getting the nod, Ford decided to call it a day.
Last Saturday, the reason was crystal clear when Rowley announced that former Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Orville London, was chosen as this country’s High Commissioner to the UK.
London, who had been the Chief Secretary for 16 years, decided not to return in the last THA elections in January. Kelvin Charles has replaced him.
