A soldier has been charged with the murder of his almost two-year-old daughter.
Lance Corporal Keros Martin, 29, of Jacelon Trace, Vega de Oropouche, will appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate on Thursday on a charge of murdering Soriah Martin.
Martin was charged after the police consulted the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Monday.
Martin, who has 12 years’ service, was last attached to the Special Forces at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas.
On December 12, last year Martinn went to visit his daughter in Sangre Grande and the child was shot dead during an altercation.
The child’s uncle, Gregory Harracksingh, 63, was shot and injured in that incident. Martin was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to do grievously bodily harm to Harracksingh.
He had been granted $70,000 bail on that charge.
