The million dollar social media advertising contract awarded by the National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB) to Mc Cann Erickson Limited was cancelled on Friday following my letter to Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert.
On May 23rd 2018, three advertising companies presented to the NLCB and IGT a social media advertising pitch. After the presentations it appears from the reports that a Board Member present advised Mc Cann Erikson, one of companies that presented, to revise their quote within one hour of their presentation so that they can win the tender.
The Company won the Million-dollar contact subsequently by decision of the Board by what appears to be a direct result of the advice and recommendation to revise the quote by the Board Member.
The letter of complaint on the issue and calling calling for the immediate removal of the Board yesterday triggered immediately the cancellation of the advertising contract.
The issue of the improper procurement process that was polluted by the interference of the PNM Board still remains unaddressed.
Given that the NLCB administer millions of dollars, the relevance of this issue calls into question the character and integrity of the Members of the Board is vitally important. The Board’s action on this issue demands their removal from office by the Minister of Finance.
