Murder toll reaches 450 …BRAZEN MURDER IN CITY

Two gunmen ignored a busy Duncan Street, Port-of-Spain, on Friday morning to kill a man in front of many witnesses.

According to reports, a man was driving his car along Duncan Street around 10.15 am, when on reaching Queen Street, two men with guns blocked his path and opened fire. Residents and pedestrians scampered for safety as the driver of the car was shot several times.

The two gunmen calmly walked away. An off-duty police officer who was nearby responded and engaged the two men, who escaped.

Homicide Officer responded but the unidentified man was already dead. His body was taken to the Forensic Sciences Center, Federation Park, for an autopsy.

A Morvant man was killed after being shot near his home on Thursday night.

Akeem Jordan, 27, of Flamingo Street, was struck multiple times and pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to reports, around 8.30 p.m, Jordan was sitting at the corner of Tapana and Kiskidee Streets when a Nissan Almera pulled alongside him.

Four men emerged from the vehicle and opened fire, hitting him in his abdomen and limbs.

Jordan was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The murder toll has now reached 450 for the year.
