Murder in St Helena …”COPS KILL MAN”

A 43-year-old man was shot dead in St Helena on Sunday night.

He was identified as Dean Joseph. The incident took place in the vicinity of the “Touch Down” Hotel along Ghandi Trace.

According to reports, persons at the establishment heard several explosions around 11 p.m and upon investigating they found Joseph lying in a pool of blood.

The police and emergency health services were notified and the injured man was rushed to the Arima District Hospital.

However, he succumbed to his injuries while at hospital.


A 26-year-old man was shot and killed during a confrontation with police on Sunday.

He has been identified as Mossiah Moses, of Upper Sixth Avenue, Malick.

Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force were conducting routine patrols in the area of Sixth Avenue, Malick when they observed Moses along the roadway.

Police claimed that Moses, on seeing the officers, pulled out a firearm and shot at them.

The officers took cover and returned fire. Moses was hit several times about the body.

He reportedly dropped a 9 mm pistol, which was loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition.

The wounded man was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Moses, police said, was well known to them as a repeated robbery offender.
