Two more murders were recorded in Morvant and Laventille on Sunday night.

One man was killed in a drive-by shooting, and the other man was dumped at the side of the road.

Quincy Samuel, 26, of Success Village, Laventille, was the victim of a drive-by shooting. Samuel was liming with a group of friends along the roadway near “Rock City”, off Erica Street, Laventille.

At around 6:50 pm a black Nissan X-Trail motor vehicle drove past the area. Several shots were heard, and the vehicle was seen speeding away.

Samuel was shot several times. The police and emergency health services were notified and Samuel was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he died.

The X-trail was found abandoned by officers of the Port of Spain Task Force along Wharton Street, Laventille.

No arrests have been made.

Police are investigating the discovery of the bullet-riddled body of Martin Julien. His body was found five hours after he was shot.

At around midnight, Julien, 44, was standing outside his Red Hill Extension, Morvant home, when neighbours reported hearing gunfire.

Residents did not investigate and stayed in their homes until around 5 am when they saw Julien’s body.

The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre. No one has been arrested.


A 17-year-old girl who was four months pregnant was killed after she was struck by a motor vehicle on Sunday night.

The victim has been identified as Donielle Nelson.

The accident occurred around 9 pm when Nelson was walking along Cinnamon Hill, Tobago.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and is in custody at the Scarborough Police Station.
