More gunfire in Balandra  …”MAN KILLED, WOMAN WOUNDED”

For the second straight day, gunfire erupted in the sleepy village of Balandra.

On the second occasion, someone was killed.

Kellon “Mandela” Marshall was in a house near the beach when three men with firearms shot him several times on Sunday.

A woman, 22, who lives at Arima, and who was liming at the nearby bay was struck in the thigh by a bullet.

Police were told that around 3.30 p.m, three assailants wearing masks approached the house located near the shore.

Multiple gunshots were heard, and the killers ran out of the house and into the nearby bushes.

Police said Marshall was shot several times in his legs and upper body.

The woman who was wounded was taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital.

She is warded in stable condition.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was a reprisal for an attack at another house in Balandra where three people, including a 12 year old boy, was wounded on Saturday.

The boy is nursing gunshot injuries following the attack. The incident also resulted in two other relatives, 23-year-old Azim Ali, and 34-year-old Roland Maharaj, being shot.

According to police reports, the incident happened just after midnight on Sunday.

The three wounded relatives were at their home with other relatives along Robert Street, Rampanalgas Village, when they heard strange noises on the roof of the building.

When they went outside to investigate the sounds, they were greeted with gunfire.

Ali was hit in the right shoulder, while Maharaj was shot in the left leg.

The 12-year-old boy, who was standing in the corridor at the time, was shot in the left side of the chest.

The gunmen also opened fire on a Kia Sportage which was parked outside, and the vehicle reportedly caught fire.

MURDER IN SAN FERNANDO

A 28 year old man was shot and killed in his San Fernando home early Monday.

Son de Gale was ambushed shortly after midnight.

He shot multiple times and died in a bedroom of his Lady Hailes Avenue home.

De Gale was asleep with his 21 year old wife when they were awakened by someone banging at his door.

He opened the door and was greeted by two men firing gunshots at him.

De Gale ran and collapsed in a bedroom.

He died on the floor.

His wife was not harmed by the killers who ran off and escaped.

The motive for the killing is not yet known, police said.
