After three trials for murder, accused Gabriel Daniel is a free man.
He walked out the San Fernando High Court a free man on Wednesday.
Daniel was charged with the murder of Lincoln “Tappa” Teesdale.
The prosecution claimed that on July 23, 2003, while in Princes Town, Daniel stabbed Teasdale in his chest. Teesdale died days later at hospital.
In his defence Daniel denied that he stabbed Teesdale.
In 2006, a High Court judge upheld a no case submission made by Daniel’s attorney and he was acquitted on the charge. However, the State appealed the decision and a retrial was ordered.
At that re-trial in 2011, a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. A third trial was ordered.
At the end of the trial on Wednesday before Justice Carla Browne-Antoine in the San Fernando High Court, the jury deliberated for less than hour before they found Gabriel not guilty of the offence.
