“Jamaican shot dead in Port-of-Spain”

A man who was shot dead in Port of Spain on Friday afternoon has been identified as Augustus Anthony Williams, 25, of Jamaica.

Williams has been living in Trinidad for years and was granted residency in this country in 2013.
His death is said to be gang-related.

According to police reports, at about 1:15 pm on Friday, Williams was last  walking along Upper Oxford Street, Port of Spain.

He was confronted by a man during which several loud explosions were heard. The gunman escaped, while Williams fell to the ground bleeding from a head wound and other parts of the body.

He died on the scene.

The body was viewed by a district medical officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Center, Federation Park, for an autopsy on Monday.

No arrest has been made. Investigations are continuing.
