Dillian Johnson, the friend of Chief Justice Ivor Archie, was shot and wounded at his home in Gasparillo on Sunday night.
Johnson was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was treated.
According to reports, around 10.30 p.m, Johnson was seated in the porch of his home at Springvale, Gasparillo, when an armed man approached and shot him. Johnson attempted to block the the bullet and was shot in the hand. The gunman then ran off.
Johnson shot into the limelight recently when a newspaper reported linked him to the Chief Justice. It is alleged that Achie tried to influence Supreme Court judges to change their State-provided security in favour of Fortress Security Services Limited, where Johnson works.
The newspaper report caused High Court Judge Carol Gobin to call for a meeting between judges and the Chief Justice to discuss the matter. But Archie shot it down.
The Law Association has also gotten involved and said Archie should respond to the allegations.
On June 17, 2008, Johnson pleaded guilty to two counts of uttering a forged document bearing the names Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor and Magistrate David Harris. The documents were reference letters addressed to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) where Johnson was seeking employment.
He was fined and sentenced to 200 hours community service for the offences.
