Former Mayor of Point Fortin Francis Bertrand has been named Acting General Manager of CEPEP Company Ltd.
Chief Executive Officer Carl Jagdeo and Finance Manager Brian Mulchan have been sent on leave.
CEPEP employees have been advised that during their “leave”, Jagdeo and Mulchan “will not be performing their duties and will not present themselves at any of the locations” of the company, “except by company request.”
Bertrand’s appointment was announced via a memo to employees from the company’s human resources department.
Jagdeo’s and Mulchan’s leave were revealed to the staff by a note from an HR officer.
CEPEP has also appointed Rixon Boodoo as Acting Finance Manager.
Bertrand “brings a wealth of qualifications and related experience” to the job, employees were told.
The new CEPEP boss was Mayor of Point Fortin form 1995 to 1999.
He campaigned for the PNM in the run-up to the September 2015 general election.
The company has made five other senior appointments.
Rondell Donawa has been named Corporate Secretary/Legal Officer and Adriana Vialva-Ralph Project Officer in the General Manager’s office.
Alan Mahabir has been appointed Project Officer in Information Technology, Candy Garcia-George has joined as Administrative Assistant to the General Manager and Sean King is the Information Technology Administrator.
There is no indication of the jobs being publicly advertised.
In a separate recent memo, employees were told that for a two-week period access to the work premises would be restricted to 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
