A 16 year old boy was charged with the murder of pensioner, Narine Surijlal, who was shot and robbed while on a fishing trip.
Surijlal, 60, of Brazil Lome Trace, Brazil Village, was on an overnight fishing with a group of people at Pier II, Chaguaramas, when around 2.20 a.m. three armed assailants approached the group and announced a robbery.
Surijlal attempted to escape, when one of the gunmen opened fire.
He was shot in the neck and was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
He was released from the hospital on May 4.
However the next day he fell ill and was taken to the Arima District Hospital, where he died.
The teenager, who has other matters before the court, was reporting to the Four Roads Police Station on May 4 when he was arrested by police.
He was charged with the killing and other offences on Sunday following instructions by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC.
