4 Venezuelans, one from Dominican Republic …”ILLEGALS HELD WITH GUN”

The crisis in Venezuela is playing its ugly hand in Trinidad.

For yet another occasion, these Venezuelans are making news for all the wrong reasons.

Four Venezuelans and another from the Dominican Republic, will appear before a a Siparia Magistrate on Monday charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. This follows several incidents where Venezuelans are before the courts for bring in guns and ammo in exchange for food.

They were arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Erin district on Saturday. They have been identified as Martinez 30, of the Dominican Republic, and Michael Herrera, 27, Angel Bravo, 24, Adrian Arzolay, 23; and Roger Maijas, 23 all of Venezuela.

While on mobile patrol, along Los Iros Beach Road, Erin, officers stopped a Toyota Corolla with five men. Police found two magazines loaded with two rounds of 9 mm ammunition under the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Immigration officials at the Division officials were contacted and confirmed the four Venezuelans are in the country illegally but wethe national from the Dominican Republic was in the country legally.
