3 INJURED IN EXPLOSION AT SM JALEEL

Three contractors were injured in an explosion on Tuesday at the warehouse of soft drink manufacturers, SM Jaleel in Otaheite.

The contractors, Ravi Maharaj, Ryan Maharaj and James Joseph, were being treated at the San Fernando General Hospital.

Hospital officials at the Hospital confirmed that Ravi was critical and currently warded in the Intensive Care Unit. He suffered third-degree burns in the upper body and face.

The incident happened around 9:45 am while the contractors were performing a routine assessment of an electrical panel.

The trio was immediately attended to by the company’s Occupational Health Specialist, nurse and an HSE Officer.
They were taken by ambulance to the hospital accompanied by SM Jaleel’s HSE Staff.
