“Cops kill wanted teen in Laventille”

A 19-year-old youth, wanted in connection with a series of shootings, was killed after he drew a pistol and attempted to shoot at police officers on Tuesday morning.

Members of the Inter-Agency Task Force visited the Picton Road, Laventille home of Shane Fraser, also known as Shane Quilley, where they tried to attempted to execute search warrant around 2.40 am.

However, Fraser reached for a gun but the police shot him before he had the chance to fire. He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died.

Fraser was described as a “pest” in the area by both residents and investigators and officers said he was the main suspect in a series of shootings involving police officers. He was well known to the police.

An autopsy will be performed at the Forensic Sciences Centre, Federation Park.
