It was described as a freak accident!
The owner of a wrecking service who stopped to assist a distressed motorist, both ended up dead as an out-of-control car ploughed into them on the Uriah Butler Highway, Charlieville, on Sunday.
According to reports, SHAZARD KHAN of Barrackpore, who was the owner of Shaz Wrecking Service, was assisting the driver of a Mercedes Benz SUV, whose right front tyre had blown out when the driver of a silver Nissan Wingroad drove into them pinning them on the wrecker.
Khan died on the scene and the other driver was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Center, Mount Hope, where he died sometime later.
Police took the driver of the Wingroad car to the Chaguanas Police Station for questioning.
Eyewitnesses said Mohammed’s body was pinned on the tray of his truck while the body of the person he was assisting was found beneath the tyres of the truck.
Several of Khan’s employees were on the scene of the accident. Both bodies were set to the Forensic Sciences Center, Federation Park, for autopsies on Monday.
